Testgrid Anti-Cheating Measures

Modified on Wed, 16 Apr at 3:49 PM

With an increased use of generative AI, Testgrid has expanded its anti-cheating measures, to ensure the suitability of the candidates you progress forward with.

Below you can find a list of all the preventative measures found in the Testgrid system, how to use them, and how they will affect your candidate’s experiences in the Testgrid system.

Prevent Copy and Paste

In the Testgrid system, candidates cannot copy the text of a question, nor can they paste anything from their clipboard into the answer input. This is the most straightforward way of preventing users from cheating, as they cannot simply cut and paste the answer. This helps prevent;

  • Googling the answer
  • Putting the question into a LLM (ChatGPT)
  • Sharing the question online.

If a candidate is not trying to copy and paste anything, then this feature should not affect them.

Disabled Screenshots

However, since the increased usage of AI tools such as ChatGPT, we have created an additional option; Prevent Screen Capture. This prevents the candidate from being able to screenshot the question, which in turn prevents them from uploading the question to any LLM.

This feature is being turned on by default on all organisations, however if required, it can be turned off on an evaluation level, as seen below.

Whenever a candidate attempts to take a screenshot during an evaluation with this turned on, the screen will darken, and prevent them from seeing the question, until they return focus to the window.

Once they click the close button presented above, they will be returned the assessment as normal.

Timed Assessments

At Testgrid, we offer a wide range of assessments, both timed and untimed. However, we do highly encourage timed assessments if you are concerned about cheating. There isn’t much we can do about candidates simply rewriting a simple text question into ChatGPT (assuming it’s not a question that requires an understanding of diagrams), however by choosing timed assessments, it dramatically discourages the candidate wasting their time by doing so.

To find which assessments are right for you, our experts are available to help guide you.

Dynamic Questions

Some assessments have a dynamic question feature, which changes the assessment as the candidate progresses, in response to their previous answers. This prevents candidates from being able to assist one another or find the preferred answers on the internet.

If this interests you, get in touch with our sales team (sales@testgrid.com), and ask for their recommendations.

Embedded Proctoring

The optional proctoring function ensures that candidates are monitored throughout the testing and cannot use external resources (such as other devices or browsers) to aid test completion.  This is the gold standard protection across assessment completion, giving 100% confidence in the results.
